  • Have welcoming flowers, candy, soda, or fruit at the hotel, with a welcome note from the CEO.
  • Provide a complete schedule of events. Keep the first day’s schedule light.
  • Brief the guest on those he/she will meet.
  • Ask the guest if there is anything special they would like to do in your city.
  • If the spouse is accompanying your guest, ask if they would like an escort for shopping or sightseeing.

The Coach’s Corner – A penny for your thanks.

We all need to feel appreciated and acknowledged. Appreciation is the greatest motivator for repeated desired behavior. Sincere appreciation encourages cooperation, promotes happiness and increases self-confidence. A simple “thank you” for a job well done and then a follow up with a question will engage the other person and make it more meaningful. “Jane, that was a fantastic presentation you gave us. How did you manage to keep everything so well organized?”

Choose someone you appreciate and want to thank. Be sure to tell them specifically what you appreciate, and why it was important to you. “Thank you so much for bringing home dinner this evening. I am really tired and it’s so nice to enjoy dinner without having to cook and clean up afterwards.” Try this little experiment to help you remember to say “Thank You” for the little things.

Put 10 pennies in one of your pockets. Every time you acknowledge this person, switch one penny to a different pocket. Your objective is to move all of your pennies from one pocket to another every day. This exercise is not a penny for your thoughts, but a penny for your thanks.

    Coaching questions:
  • Who do I appreciate in my life?
  • How do I show that person I appreciate them?
  • What else can I do to show this person appreciation? (candy, flowers, wine, praise, listening, a card or note)
  • What else am I grateful for in my life?

We so often focus on what’s wrong in our lives and we get stuck in the muck of problems. Start seeing every situation from a powerful point of view. What is the lesson? What have I learned? How can this make my life better? A coach can help you step away and see the bigger picture of life. Call today for your no-obligation, coaching session. This 30-minute confidential session will give you the experience of coaching. To schedule your session, call 405-341-3216.
